Cornfield Awards
About the Award:
The Jerome Cornfield Price Fund was established in 1987 and named after Dr. Jerome Cornfield, a prominent American statistician and faculty member at The George Washington University. The Cornfield Prize recognizes graduate students in Statistics, supporting their academic endeavors. It comprises the following awards:
- Cornfield Award for Academic Excellence and Engagement: This award is given to an MS in Statistics student who has completed at least 18 credit hours in the program with excellent performance. The awardee is selected by the MS program Committee, considering cumulative GPA, grades in advanced (8000 level) courses and participation in co-curricular departmental activities.
- Cornfield Achievement Award for Outstanding Ph.D. Qualifier Exam: This award is given to a Ph.D. in Statistics student who has passed the qualifying exam with high distinction. The awardee is selected by the Ph.D. Qualifying Exam Committee.
