Looking Back; Perspectives on a Career in Biostatistics

Fri, 17 February, 2023 2:00pm - 3:00pm

Speaker: Susan Ellenberg, University of Pennsylvania

Abstract: Statistics is a fundamentally applied field; statisticians typically collaborate with scientists in other disciplines to address real world problems.  While statisticians are typically not the leader of such projects, they may have insights that have important implications for how the research is carried out and ultimately interpreted.  Over many years at the NIH, the FDA, and in academia, I have had opportunities to take a major role in addressing important public health issues; in this presentation I will describe a few of more interesting issues I have dealt with.
